The Cowichan Climbing Centre exists as part of School District 79 and has done so since its inception in 2010. What initially started as a bouldering wall has now grown into one of the only High School climbing programs in North America. The program provides climbing instruction for over 500 kids every school year, with some of our climbers competing provincially, nationally and internationally. While we exist principally as a school based climbing academy we open up to the public a few nights a week and are open for specific bookings depending on the availability of our instructors.
Our instructors are not only certified under the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides but they are all full time teachers or administrators with Cowichan Valley School district which makes this program unique.
We are located 6177 Somenos Rd. Duncan B.C. at the site of Ècole Mount Prevost school.
PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE SCHOOL BUT WALK AROUND BACK TO ACCESS THE GYM.
Hours: Our community hours are limited to 4:00 – 6:30 Tuesday and Friday evenings.
General Public $5.00 (includes – shoes, harness and belay device)
Students from Quamichan and Cowichan Secondary are free during the semester they are enrolled in their climbing class.
